The Dumru is a sculpted bed room side table inspired by the hourglass form of the traditional Indian dumru. Two opposing volumes meet at a narrowed center, creating a striking balance of tension and visual harmony that makes it as beautiful to look at as it is to use. A smooth circular top rests cleanly above the sculpted base, letting light and shadow articulate the geometry throughout the day. We designed the Dumru to carry meaning without making a noise about it.
The hourglass form was drawn from the traditional Indian dumru : two volumes in balance, meeting at a point of quiet tension. The surface was kept smooth and unornamented, so the form itself could do all the talking. A side table that feels grounded, distinctive, and completely one of a kind.
